Preparation of Silicone Emulsion Defoamer with Easy Separation of Magnetic Hydrophobic Nanoparticles

Abstract To prepare lyophobic magnetic nanoparticles (LMNs) with core/shell structure to be applied in silicone emulsion defoamer, covered silica (MNS) were prepared a one-step process from FeCl 3 · 6H 2 O, 4H O and tetraethyl orthosilicate then modified poly (methylhydrosiloxane). X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscope (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), contact angle tests performed characterize the nano-particles, droplets of defoamer observed microscope. The foam breaking inhibition properties separation particles recorded by camera. It was found that exhibited good for foaming systems anionic, cationic non-ionic surfactants, respectively. solid could easily separated defoamed magnet.
